I am happy to welcome you all to the 2007-2008 school year at Franklin Middle School. My name is Tracy Smith and I will be your PTA President for the next year. I currently have 2 children attending Franklin Middle School, a 6^th grader and a 7^th grader. My oldest child is beginning his high school career after 3 successful years here at FMS and my youngest is a first grader at Glyndon ES. I work part time as a preschool aide at Pleasant Hill Nursery School and have my own business as an independent consultant for Tastefully Simple. I am also on the executive board at Glyndon Elementary School and am an active member of my two sons Boy Scout troop. So you can see that, just like all of you, I am a busy person!

My highest goal for the PTA for the upcoming year is to strengthen our PTA and to provide timely and accurate communication for everyone at FMS. We will be updating the sign in front of the school regularly; maintaining this website with current information to the best of our ability; mailing home quarterly newsletters; and completing a student directory.

Together with a strong executive board; enthusiastic committee chairs; a wonderful faculty and staff; and all of you, the families of our students, I know we can have a fantastic year. We are committed to continuing to help fund all the wonderful clubs and organizations for the children, as well as cultural assemblies and other fun events, like dining out nights, for everyone.

However, we can not do that without your help. PLEASE, join the PTA. You will have received a membership envelope in your summer mailing. It is just $8.00 per person. We also accept direct donations, so consider rounding your membership up to $10! PTA is not for profit, so your donations are tax deductible! We are working to limit the fundraising we need to do, so we really need your support to continue to bring a quality school year fro the children. But money is not all we need, so consider volunteering some time to PTA. You can help out with data entry for the student directory; making copies for various areas; putting time in at the school store or book fair; or even just baking, preparing food, or providing some beverages for various events throughout the year. PTA does not mean a full time job. You help as little or as much as your schedule allows.
