FMS PTA
We are pleased to welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year at Franklin Middle School. Our PTA summer packet is being mailed on 8/16/2010, so please look for it, fill out the forms and return them in the envelope provided as soon as possible.
Have you ever wondered where your PTA membership dues and fundraising money go? The PTA arranges and pays for the cultural arts assemblies enjoyed by the students throughout the year; we give money to support the after school clubs that are available to any child attending FMS; we support our wonderful FMS Staff throughout the year with various events; we offer scholarships to local high school graduates who attended FMS, we fund the 8th grade farewell social, we run the school store, and much more!
None of what we do is possible without the support of our PTA families. ANY help, whether it is the gift of time or financial support, is truly appreciated and makes a REAL difference. Are you able to volunteer? FMS PTA has volunteer openings that fit every schedule. There are one-time events, as well as ongoing programs, and even tasks you can perform at home. Let us know what your schedule will accommodate and where your interests lie, and we will help you find the volunteer opening that fits you! PTA does not mean a full time job. You help as little or as much as your schedule allows. But whatever you choose, PLEASE, join the PTA.
Our meetings are open to everyone. I want to stress that you do not have to be a PTA Board Member or PTA Chairperson in order to attend a meeting. We welcome new faces and new ideas! We would like to improve the attendance. Please refer to "Newsletter and Events" to see when meetings are held.
This year, we are staggering the nights for PTA meetings to try to allow more parents to attend. Meetings start promptly at 7:00 and are over between 8:00 and 8:30. Children are welcome if you bring an activity that will keep them occupied. Meetings are held in the school library (enter on Cockeysmill Road). Please consider joining us. Help us to make the PTA a better vehicle to support the students and the school.
On behalf of the PTA, we hope you and your student(s) have a rewarding and successful school year!
Best regards,
Donna Ward PTA President rdcjward@verizon.net
